Okay, so...

Well, nothing, really. I worked all night, so I'm in that weird dead-tired state of fuzzy headed-ness that means I'm not firing on all cylinders but not quite ready for bed, either.

But, today, I like night shift. And do you know why?

Because I think I've finally got past what was blocking me for chapter five of Could Be You. I don't know what it is about night shift that sometimes lets me write like a fiend, but I think maybe it's because when I'm tired, but have to stay awake, and maybe my brain isn't over thinking anything and I just...write. Like a mad person. Scribbling in my little notebook.

It needs more detail, but I think I'm now satisfied with how I have the scene playing out. One more night, then, with any luck, some uber writing, and...maybe? Maybe I'll have an update? *pets betas* Are you ready, ladies?

I know I'm just a temp, but on the off chance I'm in the group being petted: YES, I AM READY.

Hooray for the breakthrough. It's such a great feeling when things start clicking along again, isn't it? :D

Just? Just? My dear, temp or not, you will never be just just. XD

Yes, I was including you :)

And yeah, a bit to work out still, but the way I originally had things proceeding just felt wrong and it's now, er, coming along nicely. No pun intended. Really. :|

Woo! I'm glad your writing muse found you on your night shift :) Looking forward to reading whatever you post next.

Writing night shift muses are becoming one of my favourite kinds of muses! Can't wait to share it :D Thanks!

well... that's just gravy!

the most creative thing i can manage on night shift is drawing cute little pictures from the babies to their moms and writing "what i did in the nursery while mama was sleeping." this list usually consists of exciting things like

1. sleep
2. pee
3. fuss
4. eat my hand

i'm so glad your brain is working on a higher level than mine at night.

That is a ridiculously adorable thing to do and I bet all the new mommies just love it!

And I don't necessarily think it's a higher level thing. When I get stuck I'm sure my brain over-thinks and doesn't let me write anything. Cue night shift and its dulling of brain power (which, if you think about it, is a little odd considering we're responsible for people's lives!) and I think it's the lack of over thinking that just lets me write. I always end up having to change and edit a lot of it, but once the basic skeleton, and usually a good deal of muscle is written, it's sooo much easier to get to the finished product.
